Accidental Geopoetics
2019
Performative design intervention embracing the complexity of revealing rather than hiding.
An attempt to reveal rather than hide, to feel collectively rather than present oneself. Uncovering the hidden layers of planetary apparatuses of extraction and exploitation might be the way to theorise about design and also to reinvent the paths of its execution and potential to provide new perspectives on the political responsibilities related to our planetary embeddedness. To visually support such narrative we designed geo-ponchos – costumes for roleplay – through which human bodies connect to the planetary one. Performers were carrying ‘geoglyps’– a system of signs inspired by mining infrastructures as an unique navigation system guiding the museum visitors.
